Edwardian Double Step 20 Amp 2 Way 1 Gang Dolly Switch, made in Britain.
We highly recommend using a 35mm backbox with this product to give a comfortable amount of space for the grid (the switch or socket mechanism) and wiring.
Please note that grids can be supplied in advance of the plates to allow them to be wired up by your electrician.
A particular feature of our range of electrical items is that the plates can be taken off easily (leaving the connections in place) for example whilst you redecorate or for cleaning of unlacquered plates so that you don't risk getting polish etc on your wall.
Height: 94mm; Width: 94mm

This is a high quality product with internal electrics mass produced and common to other similar products. The weight of brass is good and sets it apart.
However, since this is sold to the ordinary person such as myself what they dont tell you is that under the brass plate is a secondary plate that must be absolutely flush with the wall. If you use a normal switch box the secondary plate will be embedded within the wall by 4-8mm depending on the type of switch box you have. It is the IMPOSSIBLE to attach the brass plate to the secondary plate since the secondary plate carries a thread to which the face plate screws. I was about to return mine but managed to make some rubber washers. that provided 6mm of dead space.
Ultimately, this information should be provided but what is galling is that by writing this review I am now providing the info free of charge.

I have been purchasing the hand aged Edwardian style switches and sockets from Broughtons for several years now as we have re-decorated each room in our house. The staff have always been great to deal with and the product is excellent quality. We are on the last room now and are happy to recommend Broughtons to future customers.
