We have commissioned one of our brass manufacturers to produce a solid brass dome to suit the wind-up Dereve door bell. The end result with our unique dome has a more pleasing delicate quality ring and the resonation also lasts longer once the button has been released. We offer a choice of finishes, so please select your desired finish from the drop-down.
You will also need to select your desired bell push from our choice of specially converted bell pushes. Please note that the barrel of the door bell push will need to be recessed into the door by approx 20mm with a diameter of approx 24mm.
These simple English made wind-up door bells are made and look just as they did back in the 1960's. They are mechanically operated, and require no batteries, wiring or electricity. They are usually positioned on the door itself for optimum performance, and are not suitable for wall mounting.
Just remember to wind them up occasionally and providing they have not been over-wound, they will give long lasting reliable, maintenance free service.
We have tested a sample bell from stock to see how long it would ring after being fully wound. We were impressed at the results of 80 seconds which equates to many callers using the bell......
The clockwork bell mechanism is operated by a thin rod (only requiring a 5mm diameter hole) that passes through the door to a matching bell push button on the outside. The rod is adjustable upon installation for a wide range of different door materials and thicknesses, but where doors are particularly thick, we can supply longer rods. When the button is pressed the rod activates the bell and it will continue to ring for as long as the button is pressed.
Normally simply mounted on the door, this bell will give a strong sound as the door helps to resonate the sound which should be sufficient to let you know you have a visitor.

Please contact us if you would like parts of your order to be despatched as and when they become available. This would attract a separate delivery charge for each delivery.

For Mainland UK (excluding Scottish Highlands) orders over £100 have FREE delivery (excludes radiators, stoves and palletized lighting) and most orders under £100 have a £5 delivery charge (£3 for small items and £7.50 for items over 1 metre such as espagnolette bolts and curtain poles).

During the checkout process you will be able to choose a delivery method suitable for your items and see the corresponding delivery charge, and you can also collect instore for FREE. Once despatched by us, our delivery partners DPD (if chosen) will contact you with a one-hour delivery window. You can give them specific delivery instructions or rearrange delivery for FREE. If you are a retail customer in the UK then when we send you your Goods you will also receive a delivery/returns note (as well as your receipt). Full instructions on how to return the Goods to us are on the delivery/returns note. You have 14 days from date of receipt to return Goods to us and do not have to give a reason for doing so. You will have to pay for the return of the Goods but will receive a refund that includes the cost of the original delivery. You can either organize the return yourself (getting proof of postage) or (mainland UK only) we can arrange a collection via our courier (at a charge of £15 per parcel).
If you are NOT a retail customer or you are outside of the UK then you will not be able to return goods to us unless they are faulty.
If you receive damaged or faulty Goods then you should contact us to arrange the return within 48 hours of your receipt of the Goods. If we confirm when the Goods arrive back with us that they are damaged or faulty, then you will not be liable for the cost of returning the Goods. You will be offered a replacement or refund.
We regret that we cannot accept returns for Special Order items (unless damaged or faulty). A Special Order item would typically be any item that is not in stock.
We cannot be held responsible for packages lost, delayed or damaged in transit. For your protection if you are returning Goods to us, we recommend that you send your package by Royal Mail Special Delivery.

After circa 6 months, the bell stopped ringing.
When I rang customer support they asked me how many times I wound it up, as overwinding was a frequent error, and I couldn't recall, they said I would have to buy either a new mechanism (if I could get the dome off) or a whole new bell.
To their own admittance, the manufacturers instructions are to only wind the bell up 'occasionally'
So, either be very VERY careful when winding the bell and ideally note down the number of turns you make or video yourself winding it up, or simply don't buy this product. I'd recommend the latter!

This is a wonderful bell: no need for wiring with loud, strong ring. Easy to install. Looks great on our door alongside the matching letterbox and Edwardian bell push (all from Broughtons). This is the second of these that we have purchased and we have recommended to friends.
Broughtons provided great service- friendly and very quick delivery.
